A Magic Primer:

Frequently asked questions about Lou and his magic.

What type of magic do you perform?

Lou performs close up, platform and strolling magic…tricks that children and adults alike enjoy.  Each and every one of these is suitable to a number of different venues…ranging from the company picnic to a fun filled afternoon in the local library.

Is your magic for adults or children?

The venue I perform in dictates the type of show that I present. If a company hires me to perform at a trade show or perform close up at a cocktail party, then my magic is obviously adult oriented. Adult oriented does not mean that I perform adult rated material. All adult oriented means is that due to the props that are used and the complexity of the magic, it is mainly suited for the adult world. Children prefer magic that is more visual.

How much do you charge?

My fees change as my venue changes. I charge more for a location that is say, 100 mile away as opposed to one that is ten mile away. I also charge more for a corporate show than I would for a school or library show. Click here to contact me for rates.

How did you learn to do magic?

A family member introduced me to magic when I was about eight years old. It has been a part of my life, one way or another, ever since. I started out with two or three very simple magic tricks…A Svengali deck (TV Magic cards), the Chinese Sticks and the Linking Rings. Afterwards, I started to visit the public library and found a wealth of tricks in the books on their shelves.

How do you do some of your tricks?

I do all of my tricks VERY WELL!!

Where can I learn to perform magic?

The best way is to visit your local library. They have a wonderful selection of beginner books on magic. Also, try bookstores like Barnes and Noble, or Amazon.com on the Internet. Many areas have local Magic clubs or you can join national clubs like the following:

The Society of American Magicians (SAM)

International Brotherhood of Magicians (IBM)
